Do you ban social media?

Recent research has shown that banning social media during working hours, on company equipment does not work, with 41% accessing Facebook and 40% accessing Twitter (handy links here)

Perhaps there are better ways to manage the issue. Allowing your staff to use wifi will allow them to access the internet during break times, rather than them breaking rules by defying bans. If your staff are determined to access social media, then rather than banning, proactive policies should be introduced.

Younger people, those aged 18 to 34, are most likely to access social media, and in this world of new technology, social media savvy employees can be an asset to any organisation.
